Growing up in Hamilton's East End, Wayne Abbott attended Memorial
Elementary School and graduated from Delta High in 1960.
Following his high school graduation Wayne spent several years
working with prominent local companies such as Stelco and Baycoat.
Joining the insurance industry in the 1967, Wayne worked directly
for Mr. William Percival Mitchell, founder of Mitchell & Abbott
Insurance.
As a commissioned sales representative Wayne quickly rose to the
top of his profession boasting a 70% increase within 3 years.
In 1971 he started insuring the Tim Hortons coffee and donut
shops which at that time consisted of 12 regional locations. Mitchell
& Abbott have continued their relationship with Tim Hortons
and now work with more than 2000 store locations across Canada.
In 1988 Wayne succeeded Mr. John Mitchell Sr. as president of
Mitchell & Abbott Insurance.
In his spare time Mr. Abbott has played Jr. Hockey and Jr. Hardball
and, through the years and has become an accomplished golfer.
